Abstract

844,393. Pressure-relieving devices for fluids. BLACK, SIVALLS & BRYSON Inc. March 25, 1957, No. 9753/57. Class 135. A safety pressure-relief device comprises a dome-shaped rupture member 19 and a vacuum support member 20 in engagement with the rupture member along the periphery of the support member, the support member being maintained in position by a sealing member 21, the sealing member and rupture member having annular clamping surfaces for positioning the device between flanges 15 and 16. The support member 20 is spot welded at one position 22 near its periphery so that it will fold upwardly when the rupture member 19 ruptures to allow a complete opening of the relief area. In another embodiment the rupture member is slotted and a sealing member is also provided below the rupture member.
