Abstract
844,161. Protective cut-out arrangements. TELEMECANIQUE ELECTRIQUE. Oct. 8, 1956 [Nov. 2, 1955], No. 30674/56. Class 38 (5). For protection against incorrect phase rotation or the failure of a phase in a three-phase system, the winding Z of a relay is connected between a neutral point N formed by three equal impedances Z<SP>1</SP> starconnected to the three phases L1, L2, L3 and the junction point M of a resistor R and an impedance Z<SP>11</SP> connected in series between two of the phases, the impedance Z<SP>11</SP> having a value equal to that of the resistor R but an argument of #/3. Under normal conditions the voltage between M and N is equal in magnitude to the phase-to-earth voltage of the system and the winding Z is fully energized, but with incorrect phase rotation no voltage exists between M and N and with failure of a phase this voltage would not exceed one third of the normal voltage between phases. The impedances Z<SP>1</SP> may be inductive, capacitative or resistive and the impedance Z<SP>11</SP> may be either inductive or capacitative. The relay Z may be energized through a full-wave rectifier and its contacts may control an electromagnetic switch and a warning circuit.
