844,054. Shorts &c. DAVEY, W. May 14, 1957 [May 16, 1956], No. 15190/56. Class 141 In making a pair of lined shorts, rear body and lining blanks 1, 6 are stitched together along their upper and lower edges RT, RB to form a tube while front body and lining blanks 9, 14 are stitched together only along their lower edges FB; the tubular rear part is then placed between the front blanks as shown in Fig. 8 and the body blanks 1, 9 and lining blanks 6, 14 are stitched together along their side edges as in Fig. 6, and the front blanks 9, 14 are connected along their upper edges 9a, 14a to form an outer tube; finally the assembly is turned right side out, Fig. 10, by means of the fly opening F in the outer tube. The bottom edges RB, FB are each in two parts separated by an inverted V-shaped gap, the corresponding edge of the V being stitched when the side edges of the blanks are stitched. Fig. 6. A pocket 17 is inserted in the side seams connecting the body blanks 1, 9 and folded over on to the blank 9, its upper edge 17c being included in the stitching of the edges 9a, 14a.
