Abstract

A solid polychloroprene containing water, obtained by the coagulation of latex is dried at 60-95 DEG C. by infra-red radiation having a maximum emission in the range 1-3m , preferably augmented by a current of hot air. Wet polychloroprene sheet having a water content of 40-80% by weight and a thickness such that the dry weight is 150-500 grams per square metre is passed at a velocity of 2-10 metres per minute under a bank of infra-red radiators covering 10-40 metres having an emission capacity of 3-6 kilowatts per square metre and an emission maximum in the range 1,5-3m . The plasticity remains unchanged.
