843,903. Windscreen wiper drives. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Dec. 3, 1958 [Dec. 13, 1957], No. 38967/58. Class 138(1). A windscreen wiper drive comprises a pivot shaft 24 carrying a wiper 26 and which is connected by a drive arm 22 to a pivoted link 20 connected to an idle arm 16 arranged to pivot about an axis 18 parallel to but spaced from the axis of the shaft 24, the latter axis lying between the axis 18 and the link 20 so that oscillation of the idle arm 16 through a given angle will oscillate the drive arm 22 through a greater angle. The idle arm 16 is oscillated by a link 14 connected to a crank arm 13 driven by an electric motor 12 through worm gearing 11, 12. The crank arm 13 is connected to a link 15 for driving a second wiper blade 33 through a ballcrank 17 having a fixed pivot 19, and connected to a link 21 for driving an idle arm 23 of a linkage 23, 27, 29 similar to the linkage 16, 20, 22.
