Abstract

843,802. Photo-electrically controlled toys. LIBRAIRIE HACHETTE. April 15, 1958 [April 26, 1957], No. 12022/58. Class 40(3). [Also in Group XV] A photo-electrically controlled toy vehicle has electric steering and driving motors 21, 20 in parallel circuits, the steering motor circuit being closed by a relay actuated by a transistor 34 controlled by a photo-electric cell 26, and the driving motor circuit having a reversing switch 29 actuated by bumpers 33 and both the motors operating through reduction gears. A lever 24 actuates a main switch 23, a battery 22 supplies the motors, and a lamp 28, which can be seen through a transparent dome 3, serves as a resistance for the steering motor. When the main switch is closed and the reversing switch is in one of its contact positions, the driving motor normally drives the vehicle but when a beam of light is directed on the photo-cell, the relay operates, the driving motor stops and the steering motor starts. As soon as the illumination ceases, the steering motor stops, the driving motor restarts and the vehicle moves in its new direction. The vehicle chassis and body are of moulded synthetic material. One wheel 7 is fixed to a common driving axle 9 and the other can be free to afford a differential effect.
