Abstract
843,766. Cores and coils for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. March 8, 1957 [April 4, 1956], No. 10316/56. Class 35. A dynamo-electric machine salient pole rotor comprises a plurality of pole pieces each having a pole shank 2 on which is disposed a pole winding comprising turns 4 of strip or multiple conductors of which the turn end portions have at least a partly cylindrical shape substantially concentric with the axis of the rotor. The strip or multiple conductors are arranged in layers wound edgewise and either successive turns have progressively varying radii or several consecutive turns have an appropriate mean radius of curvature. The turns have inter-turn insulation 6, end insulation collars 5, and are pressed radially against a pole shoe 3 by a spring plate 7. The pole shoe 3, of uniform thickness. can be rolled from flat plate. Specification 622, 032 is referred to.
