843,260. Cutting webs. HONSEL, C., [trading as MASCHINENBAU HONSEL & CO.]. March 31, 1959 [March 31, 1958], No. 10895/59. Class 31 (1). Apparatus for producing a formed cut 11 in a web 1 of paper, foil, transparent plastic material or the like comprises a rotatable glass hard base body 2 and a rotatable form cutting-tool 5 between which the web is run, and means for rotating the tool 5 at a peripheral speed differing from that of the base body 2 so as to exert a draw-cutting effect at the cutting-edge 5a of the tool 5. The base body is secured to a rotatable drive-shaft 4 on which two bodies 9, 10 are freely rotatable for supporting the web. The shaft 4 is geared to a shaft 6 carrying the tool 5 and the parts are arranged so that the peripheral speed of the base body is greater than that of the tool 5. The shaft 6 has keyed thereto a gear 7 which is driven at a speed corresponding to that of the web 1. Alternatively, the peripheral speed of the cutting-tool may be greater than that of the base body.
