Abstract
842,086. Cathode-ray tubes. CHARLOTTE, H. F. Dec. 21, 1956 [Dec. 23, 1955], No. 36996/55. Class 39(1). A cathode-ray tube screen which incorporates a row of insulated conductors passing from one of its faces through to the other face, is made by coating a grid of wires with finely powdered glass, fusing two glass members 20, 21 brought up on opposite sides of the grid edge-to-edge, and cutting the grid wires to remove the frame. The screen is then ground and polished. The screen may be annealed before or after the grinding operation, or both. The grid may be produced by winding wire round a pair of rectangular frames placed back-to-back. The wire is soldered to the edges of the frames and cut between the frames. The frames are then separated to produce two grids, each suitable for a screen. The grids are coated with finely powdered glass by spraying with a suspension of powdered glass in distilled water, and then drying.
