Abstract

768,008. Colour television tubes. CHROMATIC TELEVISION LABORATORIES, Inc. Jan. 13, 1955 [Jan. 14, 1954], No. 1097/55. Class 39(1). A deflection control grid for a colour television tube comprises two grids each wound on supports to lie in two planes with ribs of insulating material bearing on both sides to press the wires into one plane. The first grid is wound from a continuous wire onto the support arms 34 of a frame 30 of stainless steel forming two sets of strands 44, 46. The wires pass through angled grooves in the arms 34 so that the projections of wires 44 lie centrally between those of wires 46. A layer of insulating material 48, e.g. a tape of woven glass is applied over both sides of the supports 34 and the parts of the wires 44, 46 wound thereon. The second grid 50, 52 is wound on the supports 34 in the same manner, being insulated from the wires 44, 46 by the taped portions 48. Ribs 54, 56, 58, 60 comprising longitudinally grooved metal rods to which are secured insulating facing rods of ceramic 54a, 56a, 58a, 60a, bear on the wires from both sides and urge them into a common plane. Grooved insulating rods 62 space the wires correctly from the phosphor screen 26.
