Abstract

841,871. Motor vehicle frames. PRESSED STEEL CO. Ltd., and SUTTON, T. E. June 4, 1958 [May 6, 1957], No. 14304/57. Classes 79(2), 79(3) and 79(4). [Also in Group XXXII] A road vehicle comprises a circular, approximately circular or oval frame 1 combined with or supporting a body 6, a pair of driving wheels 8 within the periphery of the frame on or close to a diameter or minor axis of the vehicle, at least one steerable wheel 9 on or close to a diameter or major axis at right angles to the axis of the wheels 8, and a driving motor supported within the frame, a castor wheel 10 or wheels also being provided. The wheels 8 may be driven in opposite directions so that the vehicle can be rotated about a central vertical axis. The frame 1 may be of tubular or box section form and may serve as a petrol tank while a series of tubular, box, channel or angle section strut members 2 secured. to the frame are bowed inwardly to be joined at the summit of the body. The doors may slide or be hinged vertically or horizontally.
