Abstract

840,782. Rubber springs. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. Dec. 4, 1958 [Dec. 6, 1957], No. 38001/57. Class 108(3). A mounting for a leaf spring 10, Fig. 1, comprises two brackets, 14, 15, Fig. 4. The two brackets are bonded to rubber blocks 21, 22. The bracket 14 is bolted to a frame member 13 by bolts 16 whilst the bracket 15 is bolted to the spring 10 by a bolt 19. The load on the vehicle is transmitted to the spring by compressing the rubber blocks 21, 22. In use, the rubber blocks 21, 22 are subjected to shear stresses. Two pairs of lug stops 18 limit lateral and longitudinal movement of the spring.
