Class 52(2) [Also in,Group XXXII] A mounting for a swivelling seat permitting rotation of the seat for a predetermined angle against the action of a spring tending to return the seat to its initial setting comprises a body part to be secured within the upper end of a pedestal 4 and including a tube 5 closed by a disc 6 carrying a spigot 7 of square or other appropriate section and a stepped bush 8 retained by a screw 9 fitting within the tube, a stepped post 11 carrying a plate 12 to which the seat is secured being mounted within a bore in the bush 8. Between the shoulders formed by the complementary steps on bush 8 and post 11 is located an anti-friction thrust bearing 13 whilst on the projecting part of the post is a radial projection 14 co-operating with a pair of shoulders 15 on the bush to limit relative angular movement to 180 degrees. A disc 16 attached to the post prevents upward movement and carries an eccentric peg 17 extending downwardly between the outwardly directed free ends of a pair of oppositely. wound spiral springs 18, 19 disposed side by side and having their inner ends anchored to spigot 7, the springs urging the post 11 to a position in which projection 14 is midway between the abutments 15. In a modification (Fig. 4) the springs 41, 42 surround a spigot 39 forming the lower end of post 34 and the inner ends of the springs are anchored thereto, their outer ends being disposed on opposite sides of -an eccentric peg 43 carried on body part 31. In each embodiment the springs may be immersed in oil to damp oscillations.
