Abstract

1330683 Resiliently mounted seats; rocking seats C EMPIS 1 Oct 1970 [2 Oct 1969] 46769/70 Headings A4U; A4J In a tractor seat a pivot pin 8, journalled in the seat back 3 for rotation on a horizontal axis, is resiliently supported for vertical movement in a slideway 7, which is fixed to the vehicle, and a blade spring 11 is secured to the pin 8 and to the seat to return the seat to vertical after lateral rocking. The seating surface is of partcylindrical shape concentric with the pin 8, which is supported in cantilever fashion by a slide block 14, guided in the slideway 7 by rollers 15, 16, 17, 18 and rods 21 and resiliently supported by springs 19, 20. A hydraulic shock absorber 22 is provided to damp oscillations. A roller- or ball-bearing journal 9 for the pin 8 is secured to the seat frame 6 and includes a friction device, e.g. a rubber ring, to damp rocking movements and may have limiting abutments. In modifications, shock absorbers are provided at each side of the seat to damp vertical and lateral oscillations, or the fixing points for the shock absorbers and the springs form part of a common member which is displaceable vertically for adjustment to suit the weight of the user.
