838,885. Printing machines. TIMSON, E. A. Nov. 5, 1958 [Nov. 7, 1957], No. 34690/57. Class 100(2) Means for anchoring opposite ends of a flexible sheet to a cylinder, such as an impression or printing cylinder, are located within a longitudinal channel within the cylinder surface, one end of the sheet being clamped between a wall of said channel and a resilient clip or clips, each so anchored at its inner end as to be resiliently urged towards said wall, the clips being deflected away from the wall by means of an operable member, permitting insertion or withdrawal of the sheet end. The resilient clip 3, housed within the longitudinal channel 2 in the cylinder 1, is secured by inserting its inner end 3a in a slot in the channel or between pairs of longitudinal ribs at the base of the channel and is bowed to lie in close contact with the wall of the channel. A cam bar 6 located in a longitudinal recess 7 moves the clip away from the wall upon rotation about its longitudinal axis. One end 5a of the sheet is held firmly between the clip and channel wall and the opposite end 5b is inserted in a diametrical slot 8a in the tensioning bar 8. The clip may extend the length of the cylinder or a series of short, spaced clips may be provided.
