Abstract

838,476. Mirrors. GERAETEBAU-ANSTALT. July 9, 1958 [July 23, 1957], No. 21977/58. Class 97(1) A cold light mirror permeable to heat rays for cinema projectors, has a plurality of thin layers alternately of SiO 2 and TiO 2 on a heat permeable base, of which five to eleven layers have an optical thickness of #“ and five to fourteen layers have an optical thickness of #<SP>2</SP>/ 4 , # 1 and # 2 differing by more than 80mÁ. In the mirror shown a layer system 2 is mounted on a glass base 1 and comprises seven layers of TiO 2 (3-5, 9-12) and six layers of SiO 2 (6-8, 13-15) arranged alternately. The layers 3-8 are each #<SP>2</SP>/ 4 thick where # 2 is 520 mÁ and layers 9-15 each have an optical thickness of #<SP>1</SP>/ 4 where # 1 is 410 mÁ. However in other mirrors # 1 may have any suitable value between 400 and 440 mÁ, and # 2 between 500 and 540 mÁ. Preferably the mirror terminates with a TiO 2 layer.
