Abstract

838,348. Switches held set and freed mechanically; retractive switches. ERICSSON TELEPHONES Ltd. June 24, 1957 [July 9, 1956], No. 21145/56. Class 38 (5). In a switch in which movement of an operating lever 5 about one or other of two pivots 8 displaced one on either side of the longitudinal axis of the lever, causes movable contact springs 16 to engage or disengage fixed contact springs 17, the lever 5 is coupled by a toggle to a spring 23 tending to maintain the lever in the central stable position and in the two operated positions. The toggle is formed by a pair of leaf-springs 13 positioned between extensions 12 on the lever 5 and side plates 10 on the cylinder 15 enclosing the spring 23. The switch may be made non- locking in one of the operated positions by providing additional leaf-springs 24 at an angle to the leaf-springs 13 (Fig. 9) or by displacing the leaf-springs 13 towards one edge of the side plates 10. Alternatively the switch may be made non-locking in both operated positions by providing a coil spring 26 between an extension 28 of the main frame and a peg 29 on the lever 5, as shown in Fig. 12.
