Abstract

837,623. Extruding. LOEWY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Aug. 13, 1958 [May 30, 1957], No. 17232/57. Class 83 (4). A pull-out device for a metal extrusion press 10 comprises a carriage 30 movable along a run-out table 16 and having one or more grippers 35 for the extruded products A, arranged side by side on a gripper head 32 mounted in an overhung or cantilever fashion from the carriage to provide a lateral gap 36 through which the extruded products may be removed broadside from the table. The latter carries rollers 18. Carriage 30 consists of a vertical frame 38 driven by ropes 50, 51 from a motor 52 having an automatic torque control as described in Specification 837,621 and it has a pair of wheels 40 running along a track 24 and a lower wheel 56 engaging a horizontal track 58. A frame 42 depending from the carriage has a roller 44 engaging a lower track 28 to prevent tilting of the carriage, and a pair of rollers 46 engage a vertical track to prevent twisting of the carriage. The cantilever gripper head 32 carries a number of jaws actuated by a mechanism 35 as described in Specification 837,624. Stops 60 limit movement of the carriage.
