836,523. Windscreen washers. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. (Ford-Werke A.G.). Sept. 17, 1958, No. 29739/58. Class 138(1). Windshield washer equipment for motor vehicles comprises a liquid container with one or more outlets for liquid disposed above the windshield in the space between the body roof and the vehicle ceiling. As shown an elastic container 6 extends the full width of the windscreen and may be filled with liquid 5 through pipe 9 normally sealed by plug 12. When vent pipe 8 is opened to atmosphere by a manual control, liquid flows through one or more jets 13 onto the windscreen. To prevent flow during filling, these jets are closable by a slide 15 actuated by a hand lever 16. A rubber pad 7 is provided to reduce the risk of injury in the event of an accident.
