Class 44 A snap fastener assembly comprises a fastener member 4 held on a support material 5 by an attaching member 6, the member 4 comprising a central socket portion 8, a prong clenching portion 7 and a joining portion 9 projecting beyond portion 7 to bear against one face of the support material 5, the attaching member 6 being in the form of an annulus 10 with prongs 12 depending from the inner edge 11 through material 5 and upset within the prong clenching portion 7, the edge 11 being disposed above the outer edge 13 of the annulus 10 to prevent cutting of the material by edge 11 while the edge 13 grips the material between it and the portion 7, the distance between edge 11 and the portion 9 being greater than that between edge 13 and portion 7. The annulus 10 is crescent-shaped in cross-section and the inner edge 11 is at an angle to the plane of the edge 13 to prevent cutting of the material. The stud part 1 of the fastener is attached to a support material 2 by a conventional attaching member 3. but may be attached by a member 6.
