836,087. Optical objectives. BERTELE, L. F. March 18, 1958 [April 4, 1957], No. 8602/58. Class 97(1) In an optical objective consisting of three lens components, of which the front component is a positive meniscus doublet convex towards the object, the second component is convergent and spaced from the front component by at least 0.18.F, and the third component is divergent is spaced from the second component by at least 0.15.F and is a meniscus convex towards the rear, the contact surface of the front component is convex towards the rear, the refractive index n 2 of the element on the image side thereof is at least 0.16 more than that n 1 of the element on the object side thereof, and the radius curvature of this surface is between 0.90.F #n 2 -n 1 and 1.40.F #n 2 -n 1 , where F is the focal length of the objective. Preferably, the focal length of the rear component is less than -0.42.F. Optical data are given in the Specification for three examples of the embodiment shown. U.S.A.
