[Also in Group XXV] A sheet-metal nut which cuts threads on a co-operating plain stud, comprises a flat body 20, Figs. 1 and 2, with a flanged outer periphery 34 and a conical protuberance 24, with a helical opening 22 beginning and ending at a tangential slot 30. In a modification, a wall 42, Fig. 7, is arranged parallel to body 40, to guide a stud, and parts 54 may be bent up to form abutments co-operating with walls 46, 48 for engagement by a spanner.
