Abstract

835,307. Automatic volume control. BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION. May 28, 1958 [May 28, 1957], No. 16973/57. Class 40 (4). A signal is applied across one diagonal and is taken from across the other diagonal of a bridge R the balance of which is controlled by a bridge M of non-linear resistors one diagonal of which shunts an arm of bridge R and the other diagonal of which is subject to a control signal. Use of the bridge M prevents the control signal appearing in the bridge R and prevents voltage fed back from the bridge R altering the impedance shunt. The output from bridge R is applied between the high-resistance cathode and grid connections of amplifier V.
