Abstract

835,042. Electrostatic precipitation. COMPAGNIE POUR LA FABRICATION DES COMPTEURS ET MATERIEL D'USINES A GAZ. Dec. 6, 1956 [Dec. 29, 1955; March 5, 1956], No. 37387/56. Class 39(1). An arrangement for supplying liquid to the collector plates of an electrostatic precipitator comprises a horizontal cylindrical supply tube 9, provided in the upper part with a series of holes 10, or a sheet 11 surrounding the tube and having holes 12, larger than, but concentric with, the holes 10. The sheet 11 has a semicylindrical portion to fit the upper part of the tube 9 and has end portions extending on both sides of the tube in tangential inclined planes meeting at the upper portion of a collector plate 13. As shown, the electrode 13 is suspended directly on the sheet 11 but it may, alternatively, be suspended on a support fixed to the tube 9. In operation water is fed into the tube, the pressure being so adjusted that the entire surface of the plate 13 is wetted. The invention may be applied to an electrostatic precipitator comprising a plurality of parallel collector plates and ionising wires lying between the plates along lines of gas flow.
