Abstract

834,957. Regulating switches. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. March 12, 1958 [May 8, 1957], No. 7910/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXV] An electrical sequencing control switch unit for use in, say, a computor, comprises a plurality of switches 12, Fig. 1, operated by cams 11 mounted on a common shaft 10 driven in one direction by a motor 13 through a clutch 14 against the action of a restoring spring. The cams are held in a series of angular positions by a ratchet-wheel 17 and a spring-released pawl 18 which is engaged electromagnetically. The switch is controlled by a circuit, Fig. 3, having selector switches S1a, S1b which when turned to a new position and manuallyoperated buttons 30 for forward rotation and 54 for return rotation are depressed will allow the shaft 10 to rotate in the appropriate direction until a switch D-H corresponding to the new position is closed, thus latching the pawl 18 through latching relay 37, which disconnects the motor 13 and clutch 14 when being driven in the forward direction. The circuit may be further controlled by voltage sensitive relays VS1-VS3 on the computer which will arrest the switch in any position until the desired circuit conditions are established, this being indicated by lamps 56.
