Abstract

<PICT:0834816/III/1> A constituent in a gas mixture changes colour with a liquid reagent is determined in an apparatus which comprises a mixing nozzle or chamber 4, proportioning pumps 2 and 5 for passing the gas mixture and the reagent at predetermined rates into the mixing nozzle or chamber, a comparator cell 8 through which the reagent is passed to the mixing nozzle or chamber, a reaction path 10 of a length sufficient to permit complete reaction between the constituent being determined and the reagent, means 12 for separating the unreacted gas from the reagent, a test cell 16 through which the reagent is passed after separation of the unreacted gas, means 18 for regenerating the reagent disposed between the test cell and the reagent proportioning pump, means 22 for illuminating the comparator and test cells, and photometric means 23 and 24 for indicating and/or recording the difference in colour between the liquids in the two cells.
