Abstract

1,226,584. Automatic analysis. TECHNICON CORP. 5 Sept., 1968 [2 Oct., 1967], No. 42374/68. Heading B1X. A plurality of liquid samples from containers 14 is analysed with respect to a number of different constituents present in each sample by a method comprising transmitting the samples through conduit 18 and line 34, individual samples being spaced by relatively large gas segments, for example segments of air introduced at the off take stage, continuously adding to the sample stream at junction 50 a stream of diluent from line 66 uniformly segmented at junction 60 with relatively small gas segments 'from source G, and mixing the streams in horizontal coil 68, continuously withdrawing the relatively small gas segments from the mixed stream at junction 72 which has an internal volume greater than the volume of the smaller gas bubbles and an upwardly directed outlet arm 78 for releasing them, continuously dividing the remaining stream into a plurality of quotient streams at junctions 80-94 and analysing one or more of the quotient streams. A further stream of diluent and relatively small gas segments may be continuously added to each quotient stream at junctions 116-130.
