554,658. Gas analysis. AMERICAN VISCOSE CORPORATION. Nov. 18, 1941, No. 14814. Convention date, April 10. [Class 1 (i)] [Also in Group XL] Apparatus for continuously determining a constituent of gas by means of its effect on the colour or opacity of a reagent comprises means for comparing the colour or opacity of the reagent before and after it has contacted the gas. The reagent is forced at a constant rate by gear pump 6 through the reaction chamber 16 through which the gas is drawn by pump 13 through which the reagent also passes to lubricate it. The two pumps are driven by the same motor 14. The reagent before and after contacting the gas passes respectively through similar chambers 9, 11 interposed between a source of light 18 and two photoelectric cells 19, 20 arranged in a Wheatstone bridge.
