Class 23 A hydrocyclone for classification or separation has at the outlet for underblow a tubular extension provided with a lateral perforation, air being drawn in through the perforation to prevent blocking of the outlet during variations of feed. As shown, the outlet 5 is connected to a Y-shaped fitting 6, and the exit end of the overflow outlet 4 is below the outlet 5. Dimensions of and performance figures for the hydrocyclone are given in the Specification.
