Abstract

834,643. Containers. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. June 19, 1958 [Oct. 4, 1957], No. 19640/58. Class 66. [Also in Groups VIII and XXI] A collapsible container comprises a flexible tube 10 formed of plies of rubberized cord fabric of which the cords of adjacent plies are angularly disposed to each other and at an angle of 52-54 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the tube, the edges of each end of the tube being secured together to close the tube, and a closable opening for filling and emptying the container. The ends of the tube 10 are closed by plates 11 secured by bolts 12, pipes having openings 13 being clamped between the plates. The container may be pressurized with air or inert gas, when only partially filled with the product to be shipped, and it may have a lining, e.g. neoprene, inert to the container contents. The cord fabric may be made of a natural or synthetic textile or of metallic wire. The specification describes ways in which the container may be built up. The container may be used as a buoy, float or cushion. Specification 674,582 is referred to.
