833,903. Mineral-mining apparatus. L'EQUIPMENT MENIER. April 15, 1958 [April 19, 1957], No. 11979/58. Class 68(1) Mineral is disintegrated from a seam by the peripherally disposed picks 14 on elements 2, 3 spaced along a rotated shaft 1. Each element 2, 3 is in the form of a disc from which a segment has been removed and to the sides of which have been integrally added helical wedge units 8. Each element is staggered angularly with respect to the adjacent elements. The picks 14 slot the face, the wedges 8 break off the ribs of mineral left attached to the seam and the substantially flat peripheral zone 12 of each element moves the broken down mineral to a comb structure having teeth extending between the element to direct the mineral to a conveyer.
