Abstract

Spheroidal cast iron contains, in addition to a nodularizing agent 0.06 to 0.15% arsenic with or without 0.07 to 0.20% phosphorus. The arsenic or phosphorus may be deliberately added after the addition of the nodularizing agent or starting materials of suitable arsenic and phosphorus content may be chosen. This inclusion is alleged to have a desirable effect on the shape of the graphite spheroids and thus to improve mechanical properties between 300 DEG and 600 DEG C.
