Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0833463/IV (b)/1> (wherein X is hydrogen or an amino group and R is an acyclic radical containing only carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and having 2 to 5 carbon atoms and 1 or 2 oxygen atoms, R being attached to the adjacent sulphur atom through a carbon atom) and their preparation by reacting the corresponding 6-mercaptopurine with a halide of the radical R in the presence of an appropriate hydrohalic acid acceptor. The group R is preferably an hydroxyalkyl, oxoalkyl or carboxyalkyl radical. Examples are given.
