Abstract

833,346. Optical-projection apparatus. MATAGNE, A. F. Feb. 21, 1956 [Feb. 24. 1955; June 29, 1955]. No. 5332/56. Class 97(1) An optical system for use with an ordinary film projector to produce a relief effect produces two laterally displaced images of the whole film gate using differently filtered light beams, whereby, when the images are viewed through spectacles containing appropriate filters, a relief effect is obtained. The form shown comprises a tube 4 which may be attached to the objective mount and to which is secured a box 3 containing prisms 1, 2 each receiving half of the projection beam. The prisms are pivoted and may be adjusted by a pivoted screw 12 against springs 13, 14. The emergent beams are polarized by filters 5, 6 with planes of polarization at right angles. The device may be used rotated at 45 degrees about the optical axis on a projector with a double height gate for projecting a film taken in a camera with horizontal film fed in a double length gate. Another embodiment comprises a tubular mount including two deviating prisms of small angle covering the two halves of the field and two semi-circular polarizing filters, with planes of polarization at right angles, in a separate rotatable mount. Specification 5949/39 is referred to.
