833,182. Hose couplings. NEUE ARGUS G.m.b.H. July 31, 1958, No. 24734/58. Class 99(1). In a readily detachable coupling wherein a hose 9 is clamped on a pipe nipple by a spring ring 8, e.g. of rubber, a plastic, or a toroidal spiral spring, which, on forcing a pressure ring 10 provided with a conical inner periphery into the pipe body 1 by means of a screw ring 2, is concentrically pressed against the outer periphery of the hose, the nipple is formed as a piston nipple 4 and has a collar 7 guided on the inner periphery of the body 1 and encircling the end of the hose, which collar, on application of pressure to the piston nipple, presses the ring 8 against the conical face of the ring 10 disposed between the rings 2, 8 and against the hose. As shown, the nipple 4 is slidably mounted in the body 1 and sealed therewith by an 0-ring 5, and between the rings 2, 10 is a sliding thrust ring 12 of polytetrafluoroethylene, bronze or brass, or a ball thrust bearing. The screwthread of the ring 2 is protected by a sleeve 11, and the ring is sealed with the hose by a packing ring 21. A number of pressure rings 2 and spring rings 8 may be used.
