Abstract
A method of fog-dispersal comprises the spraying into the fog of a composition containing a wetting agent and an aerosol of silica or alumina. The composition may be an aqueous dispersion of the aerosol which may include a peroxide, such as hydrogen peroxide, and a colloid such as bone glue. The decomposition of the hydrogen peroxide may be inhibited by the inclusion of phosphoric acid or a sodium phosphate and anti-freezing agents such as alcohols may also be included. The wetting agent may be anionic such as an alkyl-aryl sulphonate (e.g. dodecyl benzene sulphonate), cationic or non-ionic. The percentage composition (by weight) of the dispersion is 50-90% of wetting agent and 50-10% of oxide. The hydrogen peroxide solution of 30-35% strength (by volume) may be added in the proportion of 10-50 parts by weight of solution to 100 parts of wetting agent. Spraying may be by mobile crop-sprayers or by aircraft. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 777,700.
