Abstract
831,990. Removable decks for supporting cargo. BURNESS, CORLETT & PARTNERS Ltd. May 7, 1958 [Feb. 7, 1957], No. 4256/57. Class 113. A ship's hold 1 is provided with a plurality of removable decks b 1 , b 2 , b 3 comprising a plurality of sections preferably made of aluminium. The sections are raised vertically when not in use by four cables 18 which pass through slots in the upper sections and are attached to the bottom section so that each section is raised when contacted by the section beneath it and the sections are stored beneath a fixed deck 3 by a locking device as in Fig. 6 (not shown). The sections decrease in size from the top to the bottom and may carry rollers running in tracks on permanent or collapsible pillars 12, 121, 122 which are also provided with retaining and locking means for the sections when in the position of use.
