Abstract

831,917. Roller sheeting-machines. MONTECATINI SOC. GENERALE PER L'INDUSTRIA MINERARIA E CHIMICA. Feb. 13, 1958 [April 4, 1957 ; Sept. 11, 1957], No. 4716/58. Class 87(2). Synthetic resin powder is fed into the nip between rollers 2 and 3, whereby it is calendered. The rollers 2 and 3 rotate at different speeds and in opposite directions and a roller 1, mounted above the faster roller 2 of the calendering rollers and rotating in the opposite direction, has its surface in the form of a projecting spiral, the edge of which touches the roller 2. The spiral may be continuous, the material being fed in at one end, or there may be two opposite spirals 4, Fig. 3, the material being fed in at the middle. Alternatively the helical directions of the spirals may be such that the material is fed in at the ends and discharged from the middle. The spacing between the rollers 1 and 2 may be adjustable. The speeds of the rollers may be varied.
