Abstract
831,179. Magnetic separation. METALLWERKE REFONDA WIEDERKEHR & CO. June 18, 1958 [June 18, 1957], No. 19512/58. Class 117 Dross 2 obtained from non-ferrous metal is carried by a conveyer 3 to a beater mill 5, the resulting particles being discharged on to an inclined mesh plate 8 in which holes of about 6 mm. are formed and which protects a lower mesh plate 8 having 1 mm. holes. Particles larger than 1 mm. travel by a conveyer belt 10 to a magnetic roller 12 and are separated into magnetic and non-magnetic fractions. Particles of 1 mm. or less pass through the mesh plates and are conveyed through a suction line 7, 7a into a separator 16 whence particles larger than 0.2 mm. pass into a magnetic separator comprising two drum magnets 18. Particles smaller than 0.2 mm. pass into a centrifuge 21 in which particles of approximately 0.05 to 0.2 mm. are removed. The remaining dust is removed by a filter 23. The meshes 8, 9 may be replaced by a single-stage or multi-stage vibrating shoot.
