Abstract
737,756. Magnetic separators; rotary sieves. HECKETT ENGINEERING, Inc. June 16, 1953 [July 22, 1952], No. 16505/53. Class 117. A transportable plant for recovering usable steel scrap from furnace slag comprises a base frame 10 mounted on crawlers 11, 14 and carrying a magnetic separating roll 15 and rotarydrum sieve 36 and their associated feed conveyers. Slag is fed on to a heavy iron inclined grid 19 to remove large unworkable lumps, which tumble off the grid ; material passing through to a hopper 23 is carried up by an inclined belt conveyer 24 to a shaker-conveyer 17 feeding the magnetic separating roll 15. Separated waste is directed by a shoot 30 to a belt conveyer 29 ; the magnetic material deflected by the roll 15 drops on to a shakerconveyer 34 feeding an inclined two-stage rotary drum sieve 36. Dust or magnetic fines pass through the first stage mesh 37 to a hopper 40 discharging to the waste conveyer 29 ; medium sized magnetic material passes through the mesh 38 to a hopper 41 for discharge to a conveyer 42 and the largest size magnetic material passes out the lower end of the drum to a hopper 43 for discharge to a conveyer 44.
