Class 59 A jaw crusher comprises a pivoted jaw 6 movable relatively to a fixed jaw 4 by means of a rockable lever 9 mounted on a carrier shaft 8 and toggle plates 21, 22, the lever 9 being rocked by means of one or more cams 13 mounted on a main shaft 14. The cam or cams engage one or more spring-influenced rollers 12 mounted on a shaft 11 extending between bifurcated arms 10 of the lever 9. The jaw 6 is urged to its open position by means of spring- influenced tie rods 29.
