Abstract

A polyester film to which coatings of an organic hydrophobic film-forming material will adhere, and which is receptive to marking with ink or pencil, is produced by treating the surface of a polyester film with an abrasive of particle size 5-50 microns to roughen the surface. The polyester film, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate film, may be stretched before the treatment to impart dimensional stability. The abrasive may be sand or carborundum.
