Abstract
830,576. Grinding. HULLER G.m.b.H., K. Jan. 6, 1958 [Jan. 5, 1957], No. 409/58. Class 60. A machine for grinding the end faces of a workpiece, such as the single or double-sided inner contact shoulders of a roller bearing ring 6, comprises a grinding spindle unit 1, 2 at each end of a workpiece carrier 3, each unit being movably mounted on guideways 4, 5 lying obliquely to the axis 6a of the workpiece and carrying in fixed bearings a grinding spindle 7, 8 which lies parallel to the axis of the workpiece and mounts a conical grinding wheel 12, 13. The spindles are gear driven from motors 10, 11 and each unit 10 successively fed towards the workpiece so that its wheel grinds its respective shoulder to a predetermined size whereupon a feeder 14, which is in contact with the shoulder and attached to a guaging device 15, reverses the feed of the unit to withdraw the wheel from the shoulder. When the units are withdrawn, the end faces of the grinding wheels are trued by devices 16, 17 which are switched automatically into the working positions, the amount of trueing being automatically adjusted by stops.
