Abstract

1430632 Grinding cams SCHIESS AG 2 May 1973 [3 May 1972] 20829/73 Heading B3D A copy-grinding machine comprises a workpiece headstock 3 mounted on a table 2 and having a spindle for rotating a workpiece 9 to be ground, a tailstock 7 mounted on the table and axially adjustable relative to the headstock, the table being displaceable on a bed 1, two template discs 5, 6 exchangeably secured one behind the other on the spindle, and two copying carriages 13, 14 which are arranged one on each side of the axis of the spindle and displaceable horizontally on the machine bed 1 at right angles to the axis. A respective grinding head slide 15, 17 is supported on each carriage 13, 14 and has a grinding head 19, 21 supporting a grinding wheel 20, 22, and a respective follower slide 16, 18 is supported on each carriage 13, 14 and has a follower 27, 28 for abutment with a respective one of the template discs 5, 6. The grinding head slides and follower slides are axially adjustable and transversely adjustable on the carriages independently of each other. The table 2 is movable in the direction of the arrow E by a hydromechanical drive to position the spindle, which is driven by an hydraulic motor, for loading and unloading of a workpiece and for dressing of the grinding wheels by a trueing device 12. The workpiece 9 is carried between centres in the headstock and tailstock and a carrier 4 clamps the headstock spindle to the workpiece. The carriages 13, 14 are mounted for movement at right angles to the workpiece axis on the bed 1, each carriage slidably supporting a respective copying slide 16, 18 and a respective grinding head slide 15, 17. The copying slides each have a roller block 25, 26 having a follower roller 27, 28 and the slides are adjustable in the direction of the arrows G by spindles 30 and in the direction of arrows F by hand wheels 32. The grinding heads 19, 21 carry grinding wheels 20, 22 and are driven by belts 23 from motors 24. The heads are mounted on the slides 15, 17. which are adjustable in the direction of the arrows G by spindles 34 and in the direction of the arrows F by hand wheels 31. The slides 15, 17 are movable in the direction of arrows K to compensate for wear and trueing of the grinding wheels.
