Abstract

830,532. Expanded metal work. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. July 12, 1957, No. 22156/57. Class 45. [Also in Groups XXII and XL(a)] A discharge tube grid or cathode is made of expanded metal. A sheet of expanded metal may be rolled into cylindrical shape to form a grid 15, which may be secured to, or integral with, solid bands 16 at each end. A similar construction may be coated with emissive material to form a cathode. After initially blanking out from stock, the meash may be chemically etched to increase the apertures to the required size, and their sides, if inclined, may be straightened to normal by a suitable tool.
