829,982. Paper tubes. SONOCO PRODUCTS CO. May 12, 1958, No. 15182/58. Class 99(2). In a multiply, helically wound paper tube 10 for moulding concrete columns the innermost ply 12 has a liner coating 14 applied thereon that is resistant to the abrasive action of the concrete when poured and that covers all of the fibres of that ply so as to facilitate stripping of the form when the concrete has set. The coating is provided with fine, closely spaced, perforations 16 arranged uniformly throughout the entire extent of the coating for allowing absorption of mositure by the innermost and adjacent plies of the tube initially from the poured concrete and thereby obtaining a uniform swelling of the tube during the initial setting of the concrete that eliminates subsequent adhesion of the tube to the concrete after setting. As shown, the coating 14 is of polyethylene, and a waterproof barrier ply 22 comprising two paper strips and an intermediate asphalt base binder interposed therebetween is applied over the plies 12, 18 and 20. Additional plies 24, 26 having butt or overlapping joints are wound overall. Specification 751,490 is referred to.
