Abstract

829,496. Hair waving appliances. SUPERMA Ltd., and SARTORY, P. K. June 18, 1956 [June 16, 1955], No. 17394/55. Class 131 A curl casing for use in permanent waving comprises two disc like members 1, at least one of which has an inner recess, adapted to be closed to present a shallow space adapted to contain a flat spiral tress and a sachet 5 which is either exothermic or impregnated with treatment solution. The casing wall has an opening 8 to receive the root end of the tress. As shown the two members are hinged together, provided with finger pieces 3 and urged together by a spring 2 surrounding the pivot; in a modified form the members are separate, have interengaging cut out parts and projections on their meeting faces, and are held in closed relation by clips which may be pivoted to one member. The sachet, as supplied, may be an absorbent pad impregnated with ammonium thioglycollate solution and contained in a moisture proof covering which may contain a plurality of sachets. Preferably the members 1 and the sachet have aligned central holes 6 and, in use the tress is wound in a spiral on a mandrel the ends of which are then inserted in the holes 6, the casing is closed, and the mandrel is withdrawn.
