Abstract

828,618. Feeding articles to wrapping machines. HANSEL JAN G.m.b.H. May 30, 1956, No. 16673/56. Class 94(1). A wrapping machine comprises a series of shoots A, B, C ... containing stacks of flat articles 13, e.g. biscuits and arranged above an endless conveyer 2 fitted with tines 3 arranged to pass through a horizontal grid 4 and stack supporting grids 14 having inclined extensions 15 associated with the bases of the shoots. Each shoot comprises four channels 5 fitted with retaining plates 7 and is adjustably mounted on supports 10 by means of slotted brackets 8 fitting over pins 9. The grids 14 are adjustable by screw 16 so that the gap between the grids and the lower ends of the plates 7 slightly exceeds the thickness of one biscuit. Each shoot may be raised to an inoperative position by a slidable cam 18. The lower ends of the extensions 15 terminate at successively higher levels so that layers of biscuits are withdrawn in succession from the shoots by each set of tines 3 and fed down the extensions 15 into superposed relationship. The resulting piles of biscuits are moved along the grid 4 by the tines and then transferred by a reciprocating pusher 20 to wrapping mechanism 23.
