Abstract

828,108. Strain taking devices for flexible leads. CALIDEC Ltd., and RIST'S WIRES & CABLES Ltd. July 1, 1958 [July 6, 1957], No. 21468/57. Class 38 (1). The cable 3 supplying the heating elements of an electrically-heated carpet or blanket has part of its P.V.C. outer sheath removed, exposing P.V.C. covered leads 4, the junction between the end of the outer sheath and the leads being enclosed in a tightly-fitting P.V.C. sheath 5 which is passed through a pair of parallel slits 6a in a flexible P.V.C. patch 6, the leads being spread apart to pass through pairs of holes 6b, 6c in the patch and the contacting surfaces of sheath leads and patch being secured together by a P.V.C. adhesive. The ends of leads 4 are secured to the heating element or elements, the patch 6 being secured to the carpet or blanket by adhesives and/or by stitching.
