Compacted mould material 11 is cleaned from the enlarged end 5 of a flask 3 while it is rotating, by the introduction of dislodging means comprising a cutter 22 and brush 23. The dislodging means is introduced simultaneously with a pistonactuated pusher 19, which pushes out the casting 12. Specification 650,683 is referred to.
